Design
Through internships, classes and personal projects I have become proficient in Adobe Illustrator, Photoshop and Indesign. See my work below.
Branding Projects
These branding materials are the designs I’m most proud of. Inspired by both the materials and care put into each product I make for my small business, Crocheted by Payton, I created a logo, background design and iterations of each to be used for various marketing materials. I had these designs printed on marketing materials and use them each time I do a vendor event.

Petals and Pastries Branding Materials
Petals and Pastries is a fictional vegan bakery created by myself and a group of classmates in MEJO 482: Media Design. The assignment was to create a company and build its brand from the ground up.
Based in Atlanta, Petals and Pastries is a bakery and flower shop focused on supporting local businessowners and sustainability. Its visual identity is clean yet playful, accessible and inviting.
We created a visual identiy and branding guide along with mockups of merchandise, business cards, and product packaging to accompany the baked goods in-store.

Internship Designs
Student Affairs Instagram Icons: I created these icons for UNC-CH Student Affairs’ Instagram highlight covers. They depict topics including “About Us,” “Departments,” “Student Organizations” and more. I was particularly proud of the icon showing the Henry Owl Building that houses UNC-CH Student Affairs.
Children’s Museum Benefit Poster: Designed for a Children’s Museum of Alamance County concert fundraiser, this poster uses pre-determined photo and logo assets to create a promotional material that was distributed both at the museum and around the area.
Infographics
Created for the MEJO 484: Information Graphics course at UNC-CH, these projects allowed me to practice my skills and provided the chance to create more in-depth designs with a focus on relaying data in a manageable way.
This final project about emperor penguins involved combining traditional art skills (I chose watercolor) and digital Illustrator design.
This alternative-story-format infographic was inspired by the handwritten recipe notecards of my great-grandmother and my mom’s chocolate chip cookie recipe.
Students created traditional infographics based on an entertainment- or sports- related topic. I completed mine based on Taylor Swift’s Eras Tour and focused on statistics including show setlists, tour guests and shows by continent
Magazine Design
Alamance Magazine
In the MEJO 482: Media Design course, students created and designed mini-magazines based on topics of their choice. I chose to make Alamance Magazine, a lifestyle magazine focused on serving both visiting and long-time county residents interested in stories on local businesses, recipes and goings-on.
My magazine included a feature article on a local business, a guide to the best coffee shops in the county, a recipe of the month, and an events calendar. I also designed a table of contents and front and back covers.
Through this project, I learned how to create layouts that are informative, entertaining and visually appealing. I worked hard to create a good balance of visual and textual information, and I tried to keep the focus on the stories within rather than on the design itself.

In the MEJO 484: Infographics course, the class worked as a team to create a magazine based on a relevant and poignant topic. We chose to focus our project on the dangers of social media addiction.
I served as assistant art director for this project, working with the art director to determine which students in the class would complete which spreads for the magazine. We created a style guide and chose overall color pallets and branding elements.

Other Design Work
Students in MEJO 482: Media Design redesigned an album cover and promotional poster of their choice. I chose to use Kelsea Ballerini’s “Patterns,” a country-pop album about love, self-discovery and understanding the world around you.
